 Johan Galtung is the founder of the International Peace Research Institute and is currently Professor of Peace Studies at the University of Hawaii. He Is the author of many books including Human Rights in Another Keys (1994) and Peace by Peaceful Means (1995) and was awarded the Right Livelihood Award in 1987 for his work on peace studies.

 Daisaku Ikeda is a man of religion, a leading figure in the international Buddhist movement rooted in the orthodox Mahayana Buddhist tradition of Nichiren. He is President of the Buddhist lay organisation Soka Gakkai International (SGI), which has members in 190 countries worldwide, and founded the Institute of Oriental Philosophy and Soka University in 1971. His publications include Choose Life : A Dialogue with Arnold Toynbee (1976).
